Carnoustie is within easy motoring distance of many historic and picturesque areas.

 

 

Balmoral - one of the Royal family's Scottish castles, originally purchased by Prince Albert for his wife Queen Victoria and is regularly used by the Queen and her family.

Braemar - The home of the Royal Braemar Highland games, held on the first Saturday of September each year and is attended by a large contingent of the Royal family.

Captain Scott's famous Antarctic Ship R.R.S. Discovery, which was built in Dundee for Scott's first visit to the Antarctic, is now permanently berthed in Dundee at Discovery Point.

 

Glamis Castle - once the home of late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and the birthplace of the late Princess Margaret.

Within easy reach of Carnoustie are the beautiful Angus Glens and distilleries and just 12 miles is the City of Dundee and 50 miles to the north is Aberdeen.

 

Arbroath Abbey, where in 1320 the Declaration of Arbroath was signed when Scotland's noblemen swore their independence from England, is just 10 minutes drive to the north of the town.

Picturesque fishing villages are dotted along the coastline and small historic sites are scattered throughout the area.
